Scrummy Chocolate Fountain

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Chocolate FountainIf you enjoy hosting parties throughout the year and like people coming to your house then why not really spoil your guests by treating them to a luxurious chocolate fountain. Whether it’s a birthday, engagement party or just a get together with your friends, a chocie fountain could really get the party started.

For my 21st birthday I borrowed my boyfriend’s Mum’s fountain and we used dairy milk, mmnmnnnm! We chopped up pieces of banana (my personal favourite), strawberries, grapes and marshmallows and arranged cocktail sticks on a plate. My guests were delighted and the kitchen was rarely empty! If you’re on a diet then this probably isn’t the best idea; the chocolate gets lovely and warm and is extremely addictive.

If you would like to purchase a chocolate fountain, there is one available at Prezzybox for £39.95 – trust me it’s totally worth it.

Happy Easter!

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Easter Bunny EggWell Easter is finally here and I hope you are all enjoying your long weekend away from work. I am in Las Vegas spending my Easter break gambling and partying in the casinos! It’s 30 degrees and a great buzzing place to spend a few days away from the uncertain weather in England. We are staying at the Luxor Hotel – the giant pyramid and having a fantastic time.

If you have spent your time scoffing chocolate eggs this holiday or been away somewhere yourself, we would love to know what you enjoy doing over Easter so we can get some ideas for next year. Happy Easter everyone!:)

Home-made Hot Cross Buns

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Tomorrow’s Good Friday and everyone knows that no Good Friday is complete without hot cross buns! If you’re feeling in a creative mood why not attempt to bake your own home-made buns this year?

I’ve found a recipe over on The Foody which looks pretty simple to follow – although I haven’t put it to the test yet so if you’re anything like me in the kitchen it may be best to buy some ‘reserve’ buns from the bakery just in case!

The recipe makes 12 yummy buns and think how impressed your friends and family will be when you show them your very own hot cross buns, warm from the oven!

Easter Chick Mocks!

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

I never thought I’d see the day when mobile phones got their very own clothes, but it seems that day’s arrived! Apparently mocks are the new craze for the young mobile generation; protecting their beloved phones from scratches and just looking cool (apparently)!

These Easter Chick Mocks have been specially designed for the occasion – I wonder if you have to change your mobiles mocks every day to keep up with the craze? If you want to shock your kids with a funky Easter pressie this year, these mocks are only £4.99 each – although if you do have to change designs every day it may not be a great idea to get your kids involved, it could turn out to be very expensive!!

Hotel Chocolat Online Easter Egg Hunt

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Hotel Chocolat Online Easter Egg HuntWhen I think of an Easter egg hunt the first thing that comes to mind is traipsing through wet bushes and getting out of breath from determination to find as many eggs as possible. However luckily there are now alternatives to an outside hunt and what better way than online.

After writing about the Happy Egg at Hotel Chocolat last week we also found out that they are offering an online Easter Egg hunt with twenty hampers full of goodies up for grabs.

Egg hunters can visit the website then follow a trail to test their chocolate knowledge and complete a puzzle. If you manage to complete the puzzle you will be issued a password enabling you to access a secret area of the Hotel Chocolat website. Lucky entrants will then go into a prize draw where you could win one of the twenty luxury hampers.

Have a Fair Trade Easter

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Fair Trade Easter EggKeeping on the theme of helping people in Africa, why not buy Fair Trade chocolate this year and enjoy Easter knowing you have helped the world continue its journey to stop exploitation on cocoa plantations. All fair trade chocolate has been purchased from the farmer under the Fair Trade rules which means the farmer has received a fair sum of money for the bags of cocoa beans.

Many chocolate companies are still exploiting African workers and leaving them with little reward for hours spent manually working in the fields. If we all buy Fair Trade chocolate this year we could help to prevent this from happening.

You can buy Fair Trade chocolate from many different companies, this Divine Chocolate Eater Egg looks absolutely divine! also check out Ethical Superstore for more Easter eggs and chocolate ideas.

Send A Rabbit

Friday, March 30th, 2007

rabbits-icon.JPGThis Easter give an Easter gift to someone who really needs it. The Send A Rabbit scheme is sort of like adopting an animal, but here, rather than the aim being to help an endangered species survive through donations, the aim is to help provide poor rural families in Africa with useful animals which they can farm and breed. Offering them a chance to develop a self sufficient food supply and even a farming business.

Rabbits might not be your typical farm animal but they are a surprisingly good choice of gift to get a farm started in a barren land. Easy to look after and quick to breed – rabbits are a joy to farm. Their meat is full of protein, their droppings a great fertilizer for soil and they can be farmed on a very small piece of land. Send a rabbit in the name of a loved one this Easter and they will receive a cute easter bunny gift card as well as the knowledge that their present is being used to start a business and feed a family. It costs only £50 to send four rabbits and a hutch, which is plenty to start a thriving farm, so donate now!

Paperchase Easter Ideas

Friday, March 30th, 2007

easter-card.jpgPaperchase have a huge range of easter gifts this year. My favourite item from their easter collection is a cute felt chick bag – I’d love to receive this filled with chocolates and other little easter things such as Paperchases’ easter badges and cute fluffy mini chicks.

There is also a happy easter card which matches the bag. If you are looking for something to decorate a table these furry easter ornaments are an idea – but in my opinion they are a bit freaky looking!

Easter Nyokki Grass Pets

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Easter Nyokki Grass PetsHow cute are these little eggs; they are known as Nyokki Pets and could make a great gift for someone trying to avoid chocolate over the Easter holiday’s. Handmade in Japan, the egg-shaped pets are filled with rye grass seeds that grow into full length hair in just two weeks, once the hair has grown you can style it using ribbon or chop it off and watch it grow back again.

The eggs themselves are ceramic and their legs are made from fabric so they can be placed on a side and their legs will dangle over the edge; they could sit on your kitchen windowsill and really brighten up the room. Have fun with the characters, styling each one with a different up-do! Choose from Froggie, Chickee, Monkey, Piglet, Kitty or Bear, two Nyokki Pets come in the set and you can buy from Wrapables.com.

Bunny Girl

Friday, March 30th, 2007

bunnygirl1.jpgIs your girlfriend on a diet this easter? Well don’t fret there are plenty of cool Easter gifts that don’t involve chocolate. One of my favourites is this cute bunny outfit from fancydress.com.

I would definitely rather get something fun like this than loads of chocolate, although a bit of chocolate would be nice too! In fact if I was given this I would probably be inspired to throw an easter costume party complete with egg hunt.

If the girl in your life is a bit to shy to wear the full outfit, these bunny ears, only £3.45 from Kitsch are a great alternative.
