Rustic Retreat

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

10592c.jpgHas your father been working really hard this year? Do you think he deserves a well earned break? Well a week away might be just what he needs. It’s often tough to find a holiday that dads really appreciate. I know my dad doesn’t really enjoy the sun and spending time on a beach. Cities aren’t really his thing either as he’s seen most of the sights in Europe and I can’t afford to send him further a field. I was racking my brains to find something I though he would enjoy when I came across a website called Costal Cottages.

On this site you can find some really unique holidays in England, involving stays in rustic cottages on the Pembrokeshire coast including arranged activities such as cycling rowing and absailing – just the thing for a dad who spends all day in an office. Week long holidays start from only £199 per person. And special touches such as a hamper filled with your dad’s favourite treats really add to the experience. Check out the special page on Father’s Day breaks to see exactly what’s included and the idyllic cottages you can choose from

A Flutter for Father's Day

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

royalenclosurelawn.jpgThe Royal Ascot Races begin on Tuesday the 19th of June and I can’t think of many fathers that wouldn’t appreciate a ticket to one of the most exciting events of the year. Royal Ascot is steeped in tradition and is a great day out even if you don’t like horses! Ladies day is world renowned chance for ladies at ascot to show off their best dresses and hats, so is something mum would enjoy too. The royal enclosure is quite a spectacle with men required to wear grey top hats and tails and women in equally elegant attire.

There are wide range or restaurants and bars varying greatly in price so there is something for everyone. If you are feeling particular extravagant you could book a table at the Royal Pavilion Restaurant for £750 per head, which includes tickets to the royal enclosure, butler service, meals and drinks all day as well as other unique services. However a general admission ticket at £60 or a Silver Ring ticket at £80 which both include entertainment and access to a host of cheaper bars and restaurants might be more with in your price range. Either way Royal Ascot is a fantastic once a year event not to be missed and being so close to fathers day a perfect present to show your dad how much you care.

Father’s Day Cufflinks

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Father’s Day CufflinksFather’s Day is coming up on 17th June and there are many special gifts you can buy for your Dad this year. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to show him you care, but obviously you can if you want to! I have just seen these cute little cufflinks on GettingPersonal.co.uk, ideal if you are male and stuck for ideas.

They are individually hand decorated, produced on fine bone china tile inserts and come neatly packaged in a small blue case. The cufflinks cost just £14.95 and will probably be treasured by your dad for the rest of his life.

Aged To Perfection

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

I came across this ‘Aged To Perfection’ T-Shirt today and decided it was a perfect gift for Father’s Day! Even though Father’s Day is a while away yet (17th June) I often find it really hard to shop for men and end up buying some extremely dull gift such as socks or golf tees, so this year I wanted to get something different. Granted it is only a T-Shirt, but I think dads everywhere would be proud to receive this from their daughter!

At £16.95 it will set you back more than the golf tees, but won’t exactly make a whole in your pocket! Available in one size, fitting up to 46” chest, from Presents Direct.

The Most Personal Gift You Can Give!

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

DNA ArtworkHere’s a gift idea that you can guarantee they don’t have already! A piece of modern art presenting their own personal DNA. You can even choose the colour it’s produced in as well as the size it comes in. It’s a very cool idea using very new technologies that combine science with art.

In short, you swab your mouth, send it off, it goes through a process of reading your DNA, it gets printed onto a canvas, and then all you need to do is hang it on the wall!

They also offer the DNA CODE – this is a crystal block with your unique generic code etched by laser into the centre. Check out www.dna-artuk.com for more information.

Own a Piece of the Moon

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

The MoonApparently you can actually buy an acre of land on the moon and give it to someone as a gift. Maybe a little outrageous for a birthday present but if you know someone interested in astronomy; imagine how much they would appreciate this idea.

I think it’s a fantastic scheme and definitely something I would look into participating in myself. As well as owning part of the moon, you can also order land deeds for planets Mars and Venus, there is even a range of novel space related gifts to accompany your acre.

The gift pack includes the lunar deeds, constitution and bill of rights, lunar site map to show you where your property is located, a transcript of the Declaration of Ownership and all the appropriate documents so you can prove the land is yours! The gift is available at MoonEstates.com for just £16.75 per acre and would make a unique, personalised gift for any special occasion.
