Franz Porcelain Goldfishes

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

fz00425.jpgIts very easy to find gifts for cat and dog lovers but there is almost nothing out there for someone whose best friend is a goldfish! Being such a person I was excited to discover this tableware range from Franz Porcelain. I think its so cute and unusual. Anything from the range would make a great Christmas gift for a fish lover or anyone with quirky taste.

The cup and saucer with spoon is a great stand alone item or it can be bought as part of a tea set. This would look good on display but is suitable for everyday use as well. I also love the organic shape of the small goldfish vase and the goldfish tea pot. You can order any of these items online at GiftandWarp.co.uk

The Most Personal Gift You Can Give!

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

DNA ArtworkHere’s a gift idea that you can guarantee they don’t have already! A piece of modern art presenting their own personal DNA. You can even choose the colour it’s produced in as well as the size it comes in. It’s a very cool idea using very new technologies that combine science with art.

In short, you swab your mouth, send it off, it goes through a process of reading your DNA, it gets printed onto a canvas, and then all you need to do is hang it on the wall!

They also offer the DNA CODE – this is a crystal block with your unique generic code etched by laser into the centre. Check out www.dna-artuk.com for more information.

Own a Piece of the Moon

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

The MoonApparently you can actually buy an acre of land on the moon and give it to someone as a gift. Maybe a little outrageous for a birthday present but if you know someone interested in astronomy; imagine how much they would appreciate this idea.

I think it’s a fantastic scheme and definitely something I would look into participating in myself. As well as owning part of the moon, you can also order land deeds for planets Mars and Venus, there is even a range of novel space related gifts to accompany your acre.

The gift pack includes the lunar deeds, constitution and bill of rights, lunar site map to show you where your property is located, a transcript of the Declaration of Ownership and all the appropriate documents so you can prove the land is yours! The gift is available at MoonEstates.com for just £16.75 per acre and would make a unique, personalised gift for any special occasion.

Happy Mother's Day!

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

Today is all about spoiling your mum, thanking her for everything she does. I wonder how many mums received flowers this year? Apparently flowers were the most popular Mother’s Day gift last year in the UK with 3.7 million bouquets sent – a part of me wonders if this is because mums actually love flowers or because they’re a pretty easy present to buy?! I can imagine half of the population rushing around their local store on Sunday morning searching for the nicest bunch left, hoping their mum won’t realise they were picked in a hurry!

A bouquet of flowers can be beautiful though and if you spend time picking out your mums favourite flowers and colours, she’ll know you put in thought and effort to make her feel appreciated. These ‘Perfectly Pink’ bunch from iflorist are gorgeous and reasonably priced at £42.90 – unfortunately the cut off time for same day delivery has just passed, so for those of you who forgot Mother’s Day, best get down to your nearest petrol station!

Photo Mouse Pad

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Why not remind your mum every day just what a great son or daughter you are – this Photo Mouse Pad will never let her forget how much thought you put into her Mother’s Day pressie, – and how could she ever be angry with you if a cute photo like this was staring up at her?! If your mum uses a computer a lot for work this would make an ideal gift.

Personal Creations lets you upload a photo on the website so you get to see exactly what the mouse pad will look like before you buy – what a great service for just $9.98! If you’re mum’s not such a big computer user there are other personalised gifts available including a photo tie and mug! This would be a great gift not only for Mother’s Day but birthdays and Christmas too.

Million Dollar Mum T-Shirt

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Mother’s Day T-ShirtThis charcoal T-shirt with ‘Million Dollar Mum’ on the front in gold and white print would make the perfect present for any Mum. It is 100% cotton and has been deliberately distressed (made holey!) to give it a vintage look and feel.

It costs £15.00 and comes in sizes 6 – 16. What’s also fabulous is that £8.50 from each one will go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity – Mum’s will love that.

To buy one for your Mum, go to www.moretvicar.com.

Little Book of Memories

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Mother’s Day Memory BookThis little book could make a lovely gift on Mother’s Day. It has been hand crafted into a beautiful design and can be used as a scrap book to store memories and photographs. If I bought this book I would mix photographs with special cuttings that I knew meant something to my Mum, like pictures of me and my Sister or souvenirs we’ve brought back from special places.

The book has 24 strong pages so you can cut and stick special memories onto each page. It is made from a white board and finished off with diamantes and the words ‘A Mother’s Love’ on the front cover.

Although this is not a huge gift, your Mum will appreciate the amount of thought and effort gone into making the book unique and full of her special memories. You can buy it for £19.95 at Gifts.co.uk.

Personalised Champagne

Friday, March 9th, 2007

The other day I wrote about the great gift ‘message in a bottle’, well now I have found a similar gift ‘message on a bottle’! This thoughtful idea would make a lovely Mother’s Day, birthday or anniversary present; you can choose the text you want to appear on the bottle so really it’s for any occasion.

The bottle is Champagne J. De Telmont from Damery, a blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay grapes, not that this means anything to me but it might to you if you’re a champagne lover.

Your message can be up to 100 characters long – just enough space to say something like ‘Dear Mum, Thanks for being so great, Happy Mother’s Day, all my love Aimi’. When the champagne has all gone you could place a candle in the top and use it as decoration in your kitchen. This gift is available from lastminute.com for £35.

Tea for Two at the Ritz

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Dig out that posh dress you’ve been waiting to wear for ages and head off to the Ritz Hotel for afternoon tea and cakes. Your Mum will love the surprise and it will give you the opportunity to eat out in style.

You will be treated to a delightful afternoon tea consisting of a choice of sandwich; smoked salmon with lemon butter, cream cheese with mustard grain and roast ham are among the variety, freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream, pastries, fresh cream cakes and a selection of teas or coffee.

It will cost £80 for two people – not bad for the Ritz and the gift will be delivered to your Mum on Mother’s Day as a gift voucher valid for one year. You will need to book six weeks in advance so make a reservation ASAP. It’s a shame you won’t be able to actually reserve a table on Mother’s Day but the gift voucher will be a nice surprise. You can purchase the gift voucher at lastminute.com.

Message in a Bottle

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

If you’re brave enough to express your love through words and you’re a little on the skint side then this could be the ideal present for you! You could send this gift as a birthday present or a thank you note and it would also make a lovely Mother’s Day present. You can write a whole essay (well up to 2000 characters) if you want or just a simple ‘Thank You Mum’. The text will be printed onto the letter in black italic writing and then rolled up like a scroll.

Your personal message will be delivered in a glass bottle filled with sand and shells to make it look like a real message in a bottle that has been floating on the sea. The bottle comes corked and neatly packaged in a brown and gold treasure chest. The gift will set you back £15 and you can purchase one from Find me a Gift.
